Chappell Roan
Chappell Roan is Kayleigh Amstutz from Willard, Missouri - a town of four thousand - and the stage name honors her grandfather. She told Rolling Stone in 2024: "It's because I'm gay and nothing's actually wrong with me." The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (2023) built a whole aesthetic out of drag, camp, and Midwestern longing, and "Pink Pony Club" - a song about a small-town kid finding herself dancing in West Hollywood - belatedly hit No. 1 in the UK in 2025. She won Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammys, publicly declined a White House Pride invitation in 2024, and launched the Midwest Princess Project in 2025 to fund LGBTQ+ centers and trans youth services in Missouri. She invites local drag performers to open her shows.
Is Chappell Roan gay?
