The Sunset Strip Is Going Live, and It's Free

West Hollywood is turning Sunset Blvd into a one-day outdoor concert on Nov. 14. Here's everything we know so far.

By Richard Bravo ·

Mark your calendar, WeHo. On Saturday, Nov. 14, the City of West Hollywood is shutting down the Sunset Strip for Live On Sunset, a free, one-day celebration of live music right on the boulevard.

The party runs along Sunset Blvd from Doheny Drive to San Vicente Boulevard, the same stretch that made the Strip one of the most famous music streets in the world. Plans call for an outdoor main stage with performers across generations and genres, plus pop-up activations, fan experiences and food and drink vendors along the route.

Is Live On Sunset really free?

Yes. Admission is free, but you'll need to register. Free tickets haven't been released yet, and the official site says they'll be announced soon. When registration opens, expect spots to go fast, so get on the update list now (see below).

Who's performing?

The lineup is still under wraps. The city describes it as "cross-generational" and "multi-genre," so this won't be a one-sound show. The Strip has had a hot streak of surprise pop-ups lately, with performances from Justin Bieber, Sofi Tukker and D-Nice, which gives a hint of the energy the city is going for.

We'll update this page the second artists are announced.

Why the Sunset Strip?

Few streets have a music history like this one. This stretch of Sunset has been home to legendary rooms like the Whisky a Go Go, the Roxy and the Rainbow Bar & Grill, where generations of rock, punk, metal and pop acts got their start. Live On Sunset is the city's way of celebrating that past while bringing a new generation of music fans out onto the boulevard.

West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman called the Strip "one of the most legendary music destinations in the world."

The event is produced by JJLA, the Emmy Award-winning events agency behind the OUTLOUD Music Festival at WeHo Pride. If you've been to OUTLOUD, you know they know how to throw a party.

How to get updates and free tickets

Road closures and getting there

Sunset Blvd will be closed between Doheny and San Vicente for the event. The city says the exact closure times and details will be posted on the official site. With the Strip shut down, plan on rideshare, walking or transit instead of hunting for parking. We'll add closure maps and times here when they're released.

Want to be part of it?

The city is also looking for artists, sponsors, vendors and local businesses to take part, from performing and booking inquiries to food, retail and brand activations. Interest forms are on the official site.
